South Miami Gateway & Parks Signage - City of South Miami, FL

TGA Design collaborated with the City of South Miami to design new gateway signage features and city parks identity signage. The design aligned with new citywide branding elements developed by the city. In order to make some signs more durable and require less maintenance faux painted metal was utilized in place of pressure treated wood. TGA Design collaborated with city architects and lighting consultants to create engaging gateway signage features that are impactful day or night.

Port Columbus

TGA Design worked with an Ohio-based landscape architectural firm to create dramatic entry features at the Port Columbus International Airport. Appropriately scaled to fit the large open environment and roadways, these sculptural entry features utilize LED illumination and a dramatic 72-foot long by 20-foot high polished stainless steel arch. Quite appropriate for a city whose motto is “the city of arches”.

Gateway Park

TGA Design developed signage, graphics and branding elements for a new city park and 4-level parking structure for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. The site also contained an amphitheater, public amenities, and retail shops. Using materials appropriate to the seaside location, identity, wayfinding, directional, informational, and regulatory signage was developed and a retail tenant sign criteria was created for the city to set and maintain standards for tenants who lease space in the park/building.

City of Bal Harbour Bus Shelters

TGA Design completed the design of 7 public bus shelters for the oceanside City of Bal Harbour. The shelters were designed to protect pedestrians from the sun and frequent rain showers that occur in this sub-tropical environment. Architectural inspiration was drawn from mid-century modern and caribbean styles prevalent in this upscale community. The previous shelters were constructed out of steel causing them to fail from exposure to the salt air. The new shelters utilized marine-grade aluminum and powder-coated finishes to prevent rust and corrosion.

Pinecrest Gardens

This scenic property just south of downtown Miami was at one time an oasis for tropical birds and a getaway for tourists known as “Parrot Jungle”. Founded in 1936, Parrot Jungle was home to animal attractions, walkways, and exotic landscape architecture. The park was renamed Pinecrest Gardens when Parrot Jungle and its animal attractions moved to another site. TGA Design was hired by the city of Pinecrest, FL to create a new wayfinding and identity program for the park. The wide variety of colorful native plants throughout the property served as inspiration for the signage design. Pinecrest Gardens still features over 1,000 varieties of rare and exotic tropical plants and palm trees in a native tropical hardwood and cypress setting. Parrot Jungle/Pinecrest Gardens is listed in the National Register for its unique landscape architecture, building architecture, and place in Florida’s tourism and recreation/entertainment history.
